People who are excited and serious about improving the quality of their lives through training in a quality martial arts program. People looking to build a true sense of confidence backed by solid self defense skills, self discipline, and respect are our ideal prospective clients.

2. People who value quality more than the lowest price. We want people who value a GREATER Martial Arts experience. Everything counts including the quality of instruction, quality of customer service, quality of the facility, quality of the clientele, and most importantly, the quality of the RESULTS!

3. People who would rather learn to defend themselves than win sport competitions. Our training programs are focused on learning a comprehensive self defense curriculum. Sport competitions are fine if they are kept in the proper context.

4. People who have trained in other martial arts schools and are looking for a new martial arts home. We welcome anyone who has trained in other systems so long as their attitude is to be respectful and learn with an open mind. We have successfully transitioned many students into our schools who started somewhere else. I applaud them for having the courage to continuing their training after a less than positive experience.

5. People who have educated themselves about Martial Arts schools. The fact that you are reading this blog shows that you are looking for the RIGHT school for you and/or your child. We are VERY confident that if people do even just a little research, they will quickly realize that pound for pound, AKKA is the BEST choice if they are serious about benefiting from Martial Arts training.

If you meet these qualifications, read the Top 10 Reasons to Enroll at AKKA RIGHT NOW!

People AKKA CANNOT Help

1. People who think martial arts schools & instructors are all the same. After doing some research, if someone cannot tell the qualitative difference between a professional store front martial arts school verses a program out of a church, a basement, a fitness center, a garage, or some other inadequate retail space, then we cannot help them.

Instructors who teach out of these kinds of spaces are typically much less committed to their school and hide behind the excuse that they are "not in it for the money". If they are such great instructors and have been teaching for years and years, why haven't they built their loyal students a home? If martial arts means so much to them, why don't they make it their FULL time career? Where is the confidence, the perseverance, and the "take it to the next level" philosophy that they profess in their teaching? OR maybe they ARE "in it for the money" and just want to do the bare minimum just to make a "few extra bucks". Maybe they do not believe YOU are worth having to put in that much effort to be a quality Martial Arts Professional? Do NOT kid yourself!

2. People who only care about the cheapest tuition prices. You will get what you pay for. The schools that charge less, DO a LOT LESS. The facts are a school cannot be the best and the cheapest at the same time or not for long. A decent Martial Arts school is going to need financial resources to be successful in the long run. If schools are not charging enough, and most in our area do not because they are afraid and are trying to undercut each other, they simply will not last and the instructor/owner just end up burnt out and bitter. This has been proven time and time again right in our area. It is a sad sight when YOUR Martial Arts school closes.

3. People looking for "quick fixes" to their problems. Confidence, discipline, respect, focus, self defense skills, physical fitness, and stress reduction, are not developed and changed overnight. It takes time and effort to develop these kinds of qualities.

4. People looking for another "seasonal sport" to fill their time between seasons of their "real" sport. To really reap the benefits of Martial Arts training at AKKA will require a commitment of time and energy. AKKA is not your school if you are looking for a "pay as you go" program. These types of programs are a waste of everyone's time, especially your own. Lack of commitment, lack of results.

5. People looking just to win martial arts sport competitions. We at AKKA are more than capable at participating in martial arts sporting events but it is not our focus. Most sport martial arts training and competitions are simply ego driven and have no real long term benefit. In most cases, sport training will hinder a student's ability to effectively defend themselves in the real world.

6. People looking just to fight and potentially hurt others. The right people train in the martial arts so that they will not have to fight and will only fight as a last resort.

7. People who have trained in other martial arts and have "done it all" and what they did "was the best". These types of people have a very low willingness to learn and we cannot help them. Most have no real skill or experience. They are basically looking for people to listen to their diluted "war stories" and to convince themselves that what they did was better than anything we are doing. If you are one of these people, don't waste our time.

8. "Know it all" parent coaches. We cannot help parents who try to run the show from the sidelines. This behavior simply lowers the self esteem of the student and attempts to undermine the instructor. We make it very clear at the beginning that this type of behavior is not tolerated in any way. If you are one of these types of parents, you NEED to STOP NOW or YOUR child will be paying a HUGE long term price for your behavior!

9. People who just want to go through the motions, advance with no real effort, so they can brag that they take Martial Arts. AKKA is definitely not the right school for these people. To be proficient in Martial Arts, it is going to require significant age/level specific effort. We consider our programs to be "tough but doable" so that it will actually MEAN something when the students advance and get great results. You will be doing yourself a GREAT disservice if you chose to go to a school that has no push, no drive, no challenge, no sweat, and just likes to go through the motions. Oh yes, and everyone gets to advance (so long as you pay for the belt test). Unfortunately, this is very common among Martial Arts schools and it is pathetic. True Martial Arts instructors know this is a despicable practice and will simply NOT do it.

Real example: We once had someone who did a trial at one of our locations, decided to go somewhere else because the mother did not think her child could "keep up" with the other kids from watching our BEGINNER class. The child actually did just fine and appeared to enjoy the introductory lessons.
By this prospect's own admission, this other school does not do warm up exercises and the mother thought this was better for her child? This is INSANITY! Why would someone even bother?

To learn more about the biggest mistakes people make when selecting a Martial Arts school visit one of our other blogs http://biggest-mistakes-selecting-a-school.blogspot.com/
